Fashion Exposed! in Sydney
Great news! I've started sewing my new designs using the fabulous silk I've been handpainting!
Oh it looks so gorgeous, I can't wait to show you! But that will have to wait until after the fashion expo finishes on Tuesday - only a week to go!
It's been so exciting to come up with gorgeous new designs with such a short deadline - and the feeling I get when I paint on silk is exquisite!
OK - I can't show you the clothing designs yet, but I can show you a few small samples of some of the designs I've been painting:
From left to right, the colours are as follows:
- hot pink and orange
- turquoise blue and lime green
- hot pink and lime green
As some of you may know, I mix up my own dye colours and just love bright colours :-)
For the clothing range, I've used sandwashed silk which has a lustrous shiny side and feels quite luxurious. The fact that it is a joy to paint on is an extra bonus for me.
So, the silk's handpainted, cut out and I've started sewing. Recently I had my Elna sewing machine serviced and she's going like a dream. The other day I bought new needles and bobbins and I'm all set for the sewing over the next few days (I can't stress enough how important it is to have a sewing machine in great working order).
Although I can't share photos of the silk clothes with you yet, I can give you a peek of my sketchbook:
These are my ideas which I'll be turning into clothing this year - and I can't wait!
New Silk Cushion Covers
I've also been painting on silk charmeuse to create more of my handpainted silk cushion covers - they're 54x54cm:
I'll be adding more photos of other colour combinations over the next week.
Handpainted Cotton Clothing
Next week I'll be dabbling with some lovely fine cotton I want to paint on and make into some summery clothing - I'll let you know when I have something ready to show you.
OK, I need to get back to the sewing for the expo, so that's all for the moment, but I will be sending you photos of the new designs as soon as I can!
