Silk News 2010 July
Hello there!
Goodness gracious me, I am sorry it's been so long between newsletters!
Please forgive me? I've been a busy little possum, and I didn't mean to neglect you.
Now to make up for my lateness with news, I've just made a little video to brighten up your day :-)
.
.
I love hot pink & lime green - so rich and full of joie de vivre!
Here is a photo I'd love to share with you -- my dear friend Anca wearing one of my handpainted silk chiffon Haori jackets, with the small silk chiffon scarf around her neck -- a vision of beauty as I look upon it on this grey wintry day in Sydney ... These colours remind me of summer and watermelons, fresh and gorgeous ...
I know you're probably all wondering who won the scarves recently, and I'm just adding the final names to the webpages - I'll send you a quick email as soon as it's all 'live', so don't be surprised when you get another one a day or two after this one, ok? :-)
For those of us in the southern hemisphere, and more particularly the colder weather, we've been getting good mileage out of our scarves on these wintry days. I'm in the process of creating some quick videos on HOW TO TIE AND WEAR SCARVES - as soon as they're done I'll let you know!
I first learnt to wear scarves many moons ago when I lived in Paris, and boy, if you've never experienced cold weather, spend a few winters in Europe! So I wore them out of necessity, but I came to love them as fashion statements, accessories, and I also learnt to paint on silk in Paris at the same time so I could combine the two.
I've been wearing scarves ever since :-) I also love turbans, although I haven't worn any for a few years -- but at one point I wore turbans EVERYwhere. Here's a photo of me wearing my purple turban (which I LOVED) - I'm in Los Angeles and it's 1989 - and yes, that was the very first handpainted silk coat I ever painted!
Do you remember when you first wore scarves, or do you have any scarf stories you'd like to share?
I'd love to hear your stories - write to me by selecting Contact in the Menu, or by clicking this link:
OK - best send this off across the internet waves ...
Enjoy! More soon ...
From my Abfab Art Studio to your desktop,
Have a gorgeous day wherever you are!
